Hua Chenyu Writing About The Documentary on Weibo:

Part I

The difference between the concert we prepared for three years and the previous concerts can be simply summarized as this. First: Different from the previous concerts held in stadiums and gymnasiums, this concert’s location was set in an amusement park. We wanted to give everyone a full-day enjoyment experience. In the morning when you first get into the park, you can experience some park games, at the same time, we also prepared a lot of Mars concert elements in the park such as those art installations. You could sign up for the afternoon stage game activities, and you can also fill in some postcards for next year. There were also places where professional makeup artists were hired to apply Mars makeup to fans and peripheral clothing booths of brands that cooperated with the Mars concert, etc… Second: The duration of the concert was extended, the number of songs was increased, and the official time was from 14:07 pm to 22 pm, with a two-hour meal break in between. The afternoon show mainly had a relaxed atmosphere, so we adapted a lot of songs to their unplugged versions. We could also play games with everyone on stage, celebrate birthdays for fans, and even improvise and chat with fans. During the two hours of mealtime, we also prepared a food street to provide fans with a variety of choices, and at the same time, I also needed to change the makeup for the evening show during these two hours. That’s because only the stage lights of the evening show will show the effect. So, the evening show was more inclined to the atmosphere of the concert, and the makeup was more concert-like. This is our first time trying this new form of concert, and there are many things that need to be improved. But at least, we have taken the first step, and I hope that we will continue to improve in the future.

Part II

I want to talk about the documentary. Indeed, as it’s recorded in the documentary, there were many problems in the process of doing it, such as how to effectively ensure everyone’s safe admission, for which, we are very grateful to Haikou City for its assistance and strong support. Then there were antibiotics and oxygen that many people are concerned about. In fact, because our concert was in winter, and in a northern city that is very dry, my throat would always be uncomfortable in winter. When I suddenly went to a southern city with a large temperature difference, my body was a little uncomfortable and I caught a little cold. So, I took some medicine and did a throat spray every day. But at least I felt that the first three days of singing were in good condition. After three days, maybe because the number of songs per day exceeded the number of songs in previous concerts, so singing like this for three consecutive days was indeed a little uncomfortable, resulting in some problems with the trachea (I don’t remember the specific medical term). I went to the hospital for an examination in the middle, and the doctor suggested that I cancel the concert for the next three days. (He said) If you really want to sing, there is only one way- inhale as much oxygen as possible. It can help relieve it. So, for the last three days, I began to take oxygen. I didn’t think so much at the time. I was taught by my teachers that if I want to do a good job, I must persist. My team and I just solved the problems when we encountered them and insisted on doing it as well as possible. Just solve the problem in my throat when I encountered it. I have no regrets about the singing part of the concert for at least six days. There was not much sentimentality, and it’s not so much about being distressed or not distressed, that’s it. So, I want the focus to be on the whole team doing something that feels cool with the fans, rather than deflecting it to the issue of taking oxygen or not taking oxygen. Finally, I hope we can have another concert together next year!
