Maiden Of Alisan (阿里山的姑娘 AKA 高山青)
Adapted and performed for the first time in the 2017 singing competition “The Next S2”.
Later, in the music program “Infinity and Beyond 2023 (声生不息宝岛季)” EP4, Hua Chenyu collaborated with Na Ying and Ivy Lee to sing this classic Chinese folk song again in a completely different style.
1. About the song
“Maiden Of Alisan” is the theme song of the 1949 movie “Happenings in Ali Shan (阿里山风云)”, which depicts the story of Taiwanese indigenous peoples called Gaoshan people. Because this song incorporates musical elements of the Gaoshan people, it is often mistaken for a traditional folk song of the Gaoshan people, but in fact it is not a true folk song. The composer and lyricist of the song were both involved in the production of the above-mentioned movie. They composed the song when they came to Taiwan from the mainland to film the movie. Later, the song became so popular that it was included in music textbooks on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and was covered by many famous singers.
“Infinity and Beyond 2023” is a music program based on Taiwanese golden songs. Recordings were carried out in Changsha and Taipei at the same time, taking the time as a clue to comprehensively sort out the “Chinese Music Chronicle” with Taiwanese characteristics. Build bridges and bonds through literary and artistic works, continuously strengthen the common memory, emotion and consciousness of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and demonstrate the spiritual bond of Chinese culture. Its purpose is not only to invite young musicians to perform classic songs in today’s music style, but also to pass on famous songs to the new era and stimulate cultural exchanges.
